Summary of the Future of Design
This article The Future of Design mainly discusses two directions of design: using design as a kind of thinking to think about problems and creating beauty and more commercial value as a design craftsman.
Through reading this article, I have gained a deeper understanding of design thinking (Fig.1). I learned about the development of design as a kind of thinking. Design is no longer limited to a standardized skill to create an object (Fig. 2). With the development of people’s ideas and human science and technology, design also develops along with it. Design can be linked to earth health, natural resources, discipline science, economic and political issues. The interactivity of the design is not only to help people interact with the device, but also to help solve all of the above problems. In a broad sense, design thinking can positively change the world, while in a narrow sense, design thinking can improve people’s quality of life. Designers can solve the problems while they have learned to identify problems and define them. Design thinking as a tool can help increase the value of my designs.
Summary
In general, I think the role of design discussed in this article is indispensable. In the future, design may develop in three directions: as a way of thinking to help solve deep problems, to create practicality and beauty, or to make people become artisans with design thinking. I think pursuing two ways at the same time is the best choice. That is, I did not abandon my original job as a designer, but I can continue to think about problems with new and advanced thinking. This is an extension of my initial study of communication design, which deepened the significance of my study of design.
